Happy SUMMER Everyone !

YAHOO my favourite time of year is here though the weather has not been cooperating as one day it's really hot and the next day it feels like Fall.
It's hard to heat up the pool when the temperature goes up and down 20 degrees from one day to the next. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good hot spell.

This past spring was an interesting one as there was lots of critter activity. The pond had the usual migrating ducks coming back and they spent a few days here before heading to their nesting grounds. We had Mallards, Wood Ducks, Buffleheads, Mergansers and a couple of ones I didn't recognize and couldn't find them in any of my duck books.
This past week there was a Walt Disney morning as I woke up to see Mrs. Wild Turkey and her ten younguns running behind her. About 15 minutes later Mr. Buck with a wonderful rack of antlers paraded across the back lawn and soon after was a doe with her fawn. He was a delight to watch as he was so entertaining .He kept running back and forth across the back lawn just like a young child would do.In the garage there appears to be two young raccoons who have decided to move in.
This year we've had a couple of nesting robins ,one under our deck and the other one on the satellite dish. When it was time for the young ones to leave the nest under the deck it was fun to watch mommy robin flying back and forth trying to get them to take flight. One of them finally got the hint and headed to the nearest tree but the other one refused to leave so mommy was getting very frustrated but alas this little one finally took off.
We still have Mrs. Phoebe sitting on her nest above the bathroom window and I must say this is rather late for her to still be nesting.
All in all though things are as they should be here at Poplars.

As you all know from my spring newsletter I signed a two year contract with a new acting agent . So far I've had a few auditions but no part yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
The Legend In Black Show where I perform the role of June Carter Cash will be doing three shows at the end of August at the Brockville Arts Centre.
THE HONEYS started off this year with a performance at Acoustic Spotlight in London and then recently put on our first two hour concert in Stratford at Monforte on Wellington. In July we will be performing in Petrolia at their Art in The Park festival. In October we will be going back to The London Music Club and The Freetimes Cafe in Toronto. For details on these shows please visit the appearances page.

I am also very excited to tell you that "The Honeys" will be recording their first CD this year with a Spring 20018 release date. I will keep you posted as to where you can listen to it and buy it if you like.

Well that's all for now and I hope all of you will have a FABULOUS  SUMMER !
Kate

The short indie film that I acted in  in May 2014 has  been released and if you would like to see it all you have to do is click on the link below which will take you to YouTube..
This film is about a terminally ill older woman who has decided she wants to end her life on her terms and so she has asked her estranged daughter to help her do this. This film is only ten minutes long but is a very powerful piece about assisted dying which is a hot topic today in Canada.
